The MJMDA team transformed this previously cramped apartment into spacious living quarters.

When we first walked into the apartment, the overall feel was claustrophobic. It had a small footprint and felt more like a shed than a home.

We inserted natural light using skylights in the hallway and common areas. This immediately improved the apartment and made it bright and airy. The ceiling heights previously did not meet standards set by sanitary law. Therefore, the design incorporated structural amendments to meet legal standards. We also opened up the fantastic external views by removing obstacles.

Our interior designer worked closely with the client to come up with the right colour palette. We settled on clean summery hues that complement the seasonal use of the apartment. With space being an issue, we developed a clever design for the dining area using concealable, space-saving elements and incorporating the terrace as an outdoor dining space – perfect for spring and summer!
